Beomaster 3000-2: Poor Tuner Performance
The Beomaster 3000-2 showed poor tuner performance (lower than normal output volume), and the S-lamps ("arrow lights") did not come on at all. I had very little experience with this model, and so I started a thread at Beoworld.org. Several Beoworlders helped me with great advice. At the end it turned out to be a broken 10.7 MHz IF filter, which resulted in a very weak tuner IF signal before entering the decoder stage. Since the S-lamps intensity depends on the the signal strength at that point, they did not come on.
After determining the root cause of the problem, the challenge was to find the right filter component for replacement. Finally, a filter from Murata was identified that had a similar response curve like the original ones in the Beomaster 3000-2. Replacement of the broken unit with the new one fixed the problem.
