Beomaster 6000 4-Channel Repair: Output Amplifier Repair
The output transistors can easily be damaged in a Beomaster 6000 4-Channel due to warping of the output amplifier circuit board, or due to carelessness while adjusting the quiescent (quiet) current. This is what happened to me, since I used a screwdriver that was not insulated, and I accidentally shorted the biasing network of the output Darlingtons to ground, which caused catastrophic failure of the push-pull stage, and also open circuited one of the output resistors.
The video on the right gives a detailed account of the procedure to repair such a damage. There is also a blog entry at http://beolover.blogspot.com for a detailed account of this restoration procedure: |
