Restoration &Repair: Beocord 5000 (4715/4716) Repair and Restoration
This page discusses a number of issues I fixed in Beocord 5000 cassette decks.
After more than 30 years in service the belts in Beocord 5000 cassette decks are often degraded or slack. The consequences are disfunction or inconsistent performance. The belts can be replaced when the drive mechanism is liberated from the enclosure. The linked blog entry and the YouTube video on the right discuss the process. The blog entry goes through the details of extracting the mechanism, while the video shows step-by-step how to dismantle the mechanism and how to install the four new belts.

The linked blog entry discusses the repair of inconsistently working 'Pause' and 'Auto Stop' functions of a Beocord 5000. The 'Pause' key would sometime work and then cease to. At the end of a tape the mechanism would not turn off. This was fixed by replacing a transistor in the flip flop circuit that drives the 'Pause' function and also seems to influence the Auto Stop function.
