Beomaster 8000 Repair: Erratic Behavior

Many Beomaster 8000s exhibit erratic behaviors. This may mean that it suddenly turns into standby (without being hot), that display segments randomly fail and come back to life, that the keyboard fails to work on some keys and other random control failures. Such issues have often their origin in bad connector contacts, failing soldering joints, or cracked printed circuit board traces around the main processor board and/or the display board. It can be difficult to identify the particular failure spot due to the intermittent nature of these issues. However, there are a few known trouble spots that seem to occur in many Beomasters at this age. Resoldering of the vias on the processor board takes car of many of these issues, and a cleaning of the contacts between processor and display boards cures many erratic display issues (but not dead display segments...)
