Beomaster 8000 Repair: Replacing Inidicator Lights with LEDs
The Beomaster 8000 uses incandescent miniature light bulbs as indicator lights for the manual tuning, mono, filters and clipping indicators. Like all incandescent light bulbs these do not last forever due to filament evaporation. Matching replacement light bulbs are difficult to find and can be expensive (send me an email at [email protected] if you would like to know where to get them). If long term use of the Beomaster for a few more decades is desired, these light bulbs can be exchanged with modern LEDs, which have an almost infinite life time, due to their semiconductor based light emission. Red or white LEDs can be used in place of the original light bulbs, and there is no discernible difference in appearance once the red covers are replaced and the Beomaster is put back to gather. Note, that due to the much higher emission efficiency of LEDs, their much lower working voltage, and their more directed light emission pattern, the circuit of the Beomaster needs to be altered to account for these differences.
