Beomaster 3000-2: Replacing Incandescent Indicator Bulbs with LEDs
The Beomaster 3000-2 has several incandescent indicator light bulbs used for the stereo indicator or the S-lamps. These 12 V miniature light bulbs are difficult to find and can be rather expensive. Add the limited lifetime, and LED replacements seem fairly attractive. Due to the use of diffusors as lamp covers in the Beomaster 3000-2 LED replacements can look identical to the incandescents. The issue is to create a form factor that fits into the bulb sockets of the Beomaster. This was achieved by soldering large surface mount LED packages to through hole resistors whose leads were bent in a way to make contact with the bulb socked once the resistor was inserted.
